Museveni makes three key changes in UPDF command

Major General Takirwa will deputize Lieutenant General Muhanga Kayanja who recently took over from General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the Commander of Land Force.

The Deputy Defence Spokesperson, Col Deo Akiiki, has in a Wednesday press release announced that President Yoweri Museveni, the Commander in Chief of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has made three crucial changes and appointments in the army.

According to Akiiki, Major General Francis Takirwa has been appointed acting Deputy Commander Land Force while Major General J.A. Bakasumba was appointed acting Chief of Staff Land Force. Brigadier General Bob P. Ogiki has been promoted to Major General and appointed the 2nd Division Commander.

Major General Takirwa will deputize Lieutenant General Muhanga Kayanja who recently took over from General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the Commander of Land Force. General Muhoozi was promoted to the rank of General and relieved of his duties as commander of Land Forces.
