First Son, Commander of Land Forces (UPDF) Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has stepped out and rejected the assertions that his father, President Yoweri Museveni, stopped him from using Twitter.

In a Wednesday evening on Twitter, Muhoozi blames the rumours on the people scared of him and the young people of Uganda.

“The President never stopped me from twitting. That is a fabrication by people scared of us. I mean the young people of Uganda,” the General adds dismissively.

For the record, Museveni during Muhoozi’s so-called birthday bashes publicly registered displeasure over the First Son’s irresponsible use of social media.

Museveni’s Rwandese peer, Gen Paul Kagame chipped in and pledged to skill Muhoozi into the responsible use of Twitter.

Upon jetting in from Rwanda where he attended the Commonwealth Heads of States Meeting (CHOGM), Museveni summoned the senior military officers and still complained about Muhoozi’s irresponsible use of Twitter.

Museveni was incensed by the fact that Muhoozi had tweeted and overruled an order that he( Museveni) had issued placing the military on High-Class One preparedness while he was away in Rwanda.

Museveni issued the order to the deputy chief of defence forces, Gen Peter Elwelu.

But Elwelu having issued the order to the military units across the country, Muhoozi reached for his Twitter handle and overruled his superiors.

He twitted that there was no such order anywhere on record as had been issued by Gen Elwelu. Museveni was left incensed. He called Kampala to reaffirm the order that Muhoozi had overruled.

So, the army spokesperson, Felix Kulayigye stepped out to reaffirm the order as per the top-tier military boss’ clarification.

Earlier on, Muhoozi had enraged Kaguta by tweeting suspending the military Shuja operation inside the DRC without the knowledge of his superiors in the army.

Museveni still contacted Kulayigye to speak out overruling Muhoozi.

Of all the controversial tweets Muhoozi had authored is the one he issued referring to the otherwise national UPDF army as a Chwezi army.

Such was the dust this particular tweet kicked off following a few minutes of its issuance that Muhoozi quickly reached his Twitter handle and erased it.

All in all, we understand that the President had indeed ordered Muhoozi off Twitter until he allowed him to use it again hoping that he had learned to conduct himself responsibly.
