The six accused persons alleged in the murder of Maria Nagirinya and Ronald Kitayimbwa started their defence after Judge Isaac Muwata found them with a case to answer.
Kasolo, the prime suspect in this matter, was the first on the stand. He narrated to the court how he was arrested by security operatives while on his business of shoe selling around Nateete – Mabiito Village and later taken to unknown places, where he met his co-accused Katerega Sadati.
“After my arrest, I was asked to provide Shs2.5 million by security operatives or else to accept that I participated in the murder of Nagirinya and Kitayimbwa,” Kasolo said while speaking in Court.
Kasolo also narrated that he was later forced to sign the charge and caution statement by one Nakatudde Winifred which contained details of how the duo were kidnapped and murdered.
Kasolo also told the court how police officers at Katwe police station forced and gave them words to say during the visit to the crime scenes at Nagirinya’s place, and at Mukono where they dumped the deceased after the murder.
“Isaac Ssenabulya, the convict in this matter is a police officer attached to Katwe police station. Before being implicated in this matter, Ssenabulya was among those who tortured us while at Katwe police station,” Kasolo said.
Kasolo also disclosed to the court that he is the son of the late former Attorney General Prof. Kiddu Makubuya.
Six people implicated in the kidnap and murder of Nagirinya and Kitayimbwa in 2019 have begun their defence in a hearing at the High Court in Kampala today.
