Police arrest 2 juveniles suspected to be ADF rebels
Police have urged members of the public to always be extra vigilant and take note of individuals who they may not know.
Police have confirmed the arrest of three suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels who were carrying Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), a laptop and mobile phones crossing from Kasese district to Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The 3 suspects who were arrested by police at Kikorongo included 2 juveniles Ashraf Murshid aged 12, Kambale Bbondwe aged 14 and another colleague of theirs Musana Hussein aged 22.
According to Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, the two Musana Hussein and Ashraf Murshid must have been recruited from Mayuge district.
“We also managed to confirm that the 3 suspects had a cell in Kasese and were travelling to DRC; they had connections with Kambale Bbondwe who is a Congolese,” he said.
Relatedly, Enanga, said that Police in Kampala arrested Muwanag Kevin, suspected to be among the rebel group that has been stealing guns from police officers.
Facts gathered indicated that Muwanga was posturing himself as a collector of plastic bottles in town before he was arrested at around 1 am trying to snatch a semi-automatic rifle gun from a private security guard at Zainab Azziz Emporium building along Nakasero road.
Fred Enanga said that the suspect timed when one of the guards Makanika Colvis Wambaale of Swat Security Company Limited had dozed off slightly and then tried to snatch away his gun.
“We cannot take this behaviour here for granted. We are interrogating him further to know whether he has any connection to these other domestic cells of violence,” he said.
