Police Arrest Motorist for Attempted Murder After Knocking Down Officer During Presidential Convoy Clearance
Police say the 27-year-old motorist accelerated toward the officer during a routine presidential convoy operation

Police in Mbarara City have arrested 27-year-old Richard Agumaniiwe for attempted murder after he allegedly knocked down a senior officer during a presidential convoy clearance operation.
According to authorities, the suspect reportedly hit SP Kennedy Ocaya, the Officer in Charge of Ruti Police Station, as security personnel worked to secure the route for the presidential convoy. Police say the officer was performing official traffic duties when he was struck.
SP Ocaya sustained injuries and was rushed for medical attention. Police have not yet provided an update on his condition.
Agumaniiwe was immediately apprehended and is currently in custody as investigations continue. Police say he will be charged with attempted murder and any additional offenses that arise from the inquiry.
Security agencies reiterated that interference with a presidential convoy is a criminal offense and warned motorists to strictly follow instructions issued during such operations to avoid endangering lives and facing severe charges.
