Police arrests Bobi Wine’s man for attacking Majembere at Jakana’s burial
Police reveal that one suspect behind what it called a ‘vicious attack’ on Majambere Kamuntu during the burial ceremony of Jakana Suleiman Nadduli last year in Luwero has been arrested while others remain on the wanted list.
Majambere, a regime mobilizer, was October last year beaten by alleged National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters during the burial of Jakana, a former political activist, who was critical to the regime.
“On the 7th February 2023, our CID task teams arrested, one Onzima Geofrey alias “High Power”, who was on our wanted list for causing grievous harm to Majambere Kamuntu, whom, he together with others, viciously attacked on the 24th October 2022, during the burial of the late Jakan Suleiman at Kadunda village in Nakaseke District,” police said in a brief statement.
“The suspects went into hiding in Nairobi but Onzima was tracked down upon his return and arrested from another hideout in Nansana. He is set to appear in court on sanctioned charges as a serious manhunt for his accomplices continues,” the police statement added.
Police’s public reveal of arresting Onzima comes after an outcry by Bobi Wine yesterday when the NUP leader said Onzima had been abducted by armed thugs dressed in casual clothes.
“Our brother and comrade Ongima Geoffrey aka Tower is the latest victim of violent abductions. Armed thugs dressed in casual clothes attacked him from around Nansana, fired bullets and took him away in a ‘drone’,”
Bobi Wine said ‘Museveni and his criminal regime have already written the history of grave human rights violations and they seem not done.’ It will take the effort of all of us – THE PEOPLE- to put an end to this madness, he emphasized.
