Police arrests the overall commander of a new rebel group
According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Ssemeogerere has been responsible for a number of attacks, especially on security personnel in Wakiso, Kiboga and Kassanda districts.
The overall commander of Uganda Coalition Forces of Change (UCFC), a rebel group formed in 2022, Ssemwogerere Frank David alias Ndugwa, alias Kano, has been arrested by police.
His arrest followed an operation carried out by joint security task force teams involved in counter-operations aimed at disrupting and dismantling activities of hostile elements in the country.
According to police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Ssemeogerere has been responsible for a number of attacks, especially on security personnel in Wakiso, Kiboga and Kassanda districts.
“If you remember very well, four police officers like Lokech, Police Constable Kigongo Moses, OC Ndimba Paul and Francis Nsubuga, were all gunned down by this same group. They also attacked two LDU’s in Wakiso and their gun was robbed,” he said.
Enanga added that fortunately, all the five guns they had robbed were recovered along with the arrest of their overall commander bringing the total number of rebel suspects arrested to 22.
He also noted that Ssemwogerere will be arraigned in the court martial and charged with various counts of murder, aggravated robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms, all under the UPDF Act.
