POLICE CRIME REPORT: Here is how every region performed

North Kyoga and Kampala’s Metropolitan Area/Police (KMP) North have topped the list of areas with the highest rate of crimes. Theft, Rape and Child Neglect are among the outstanding crimes as contained in the 2022 Annual Police Crime Report.

Uganda Police force is present in 28 policing regions across the country and 231, 653 cases were registered in different regions.

According to the released Annual Police Crime Report released on Wednesday, North Kyoga registered the highest crime rate with 17, 605 cases.

These were in the rural areas of Alebtong, Apac, Kole, Lira, Oyam, Amolatar, Dokolo, Kwania and Otuke.

The highest registered crime was common assault 3,648, Child Neglect 1, 099, child desertion 293, other crimes in general 5,035 and malicious damage to property 559.

“KMP North in the areas of Nansana, Kasangati and Old Kampala registered 16, 691 cases; the highest being theft at 5,315, mobile phone theft at 936, motorcycle theft at 864, motor vehicle theft at 240, robberies at 914, aggravated robbery at 412, breakings 262, rape 136, Narcotics 567,” reads the report.

Additionally, KMP south registered the highest number of economic crimes with 1, 961 cases.

Albertine region registered more cases of defilement at 244 out of 8,960 cases and burglaries at 513.

Other regions with the highest case registered include Rwizi, Greater Masaka, KMP East and Aswa
