Police intercepts taxi with five kidnapped school children
According to police, the impounding of this taxi follows a matter of abduction of school children which was registered by police On the morning of February 15th, 2023.
Police in Kampala City has impounded a taxi bearing registration number UBA 291C that contained five school children suspected to have been kidnapped. This was at a checkpoint mounted by police at Kyagwe road.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan, highlighted that upon receipt of this information, all officers in Kampala Metropolitan were alerted to intercept the said vehicle that was carrying the alleged abducted children.
“At approximately 10:00 am, the driver of the taxi was arrested and subsequently taken to Kitezi Police Station, where the case had already been registered. All of the victims, who were school children, were safely rescued and escorted to Kitezi Police Station for further management,” he said.
Owoyesigyire further added that the impounded taxi was forwarded to Kitezi Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation.
The police assured the public that they are taking this matter very seriously and are doing everything in their power to ensure the safety of all citizens, particularly children.
They also urged parents and guardians to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
