Police nabs two suspects in violent attack on Ben Kiwakuka Street
Police said they so far have two suspects in their custody to aid in the investigation, after 3 assailants are seen kicking a one Mugisha Tomson, 40 years old and a resident of Kyebando.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police is currently investigating an attack on a man around Ben Kiwakuka Street in Kampala at approximately 8 PM yesterday, May 22nd, 2024.
Police said they so far have two suspects in their custody to aid in the investigation, after 3 assailants are seen kicking a one Mugisha Tomson, 40 years old and a resident of Kyebando.
In a statement released by ASP Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy Public Relations Officer Kampala Metropolitan Police, they have since established that during the incident, the victim was robbed of 450,000 UGX, a bag containing important documents, keys, and a container.

“The Central Police Station in Kampala has promptly opened inquiries into this attack. So far, two suspects have been identified and are currently assisting with the ongoing investigations. We are actively working to trace and apprehend all individuals involved and ensure they are brought to justice,” he said.
Owoyesigyire urged members of the public to be vigilant and mindful of their surroundings and if they witness any suspicious activities, they shouldn’t hesitate to make an alarm or notify the police immediately.
Police believe that public cooperation is essential in preventing such incidents and ensuring community safety.
In the past weeks Ugandans have raised concerns about a wave of attacks being inflicted on pedestrians by thieves.
Citizens mostly on social media say the attackers either kick their victims or hit them with pavers before robbing them of their valuables.
Last weekend, a video showing a man being attacked by a suspected robber on Wavamunno Road in Munyonyo, Kampala, also made rounds on social media.
Another video that made rounds on social media showed a group of people travelling on motorcycles attacking and robbing a pedestrian in Kabalagala. The incident according to police occurred on March 23.
Police said at least seven people were arrested in connection to the Kabalagala incident.
