Prof. Muhwezi appointed substantive MUBS Principal

Professor Muhwezi has served as interim Principal since Professor Wasswa Balunywa’s contract expired and now steps into the role with extensive expertise, holding a PhD in Public Procurement.

President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Professor Moses Muhwezi as the new Principal of Makerere University Business School (MUBS), starting his five-year term effective immediately.

A presidential instrument states, “In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by Article 172(1) of the Constitution of Uganda, I hereby appoint Professor Moses Muhwezi as Principal of Makerere University Business School.”

Professor Muhwezi has served as interim Principal since Professor Wasswa Balunywa’s contract expired and now steps into the role with extensive expertise, holding a PhD in Public Procurement.

An accomplished academic leader, Professor Muhwezi also holds an MBA in Accounting and Finance and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce. Previously, he served as Dean of the Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Business Administration and Deputy Principal of MUBS.

As the new head of the institution, he intends to further strengthen MUBS’s academic offerings, particularly in postgraduate studies such as the Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Accounting & Finance, and Master of Science in Human Resource Management.

MUBS’s regional campuses in Arua, Jinja, Mbale, and Mbarara serve students from across Uganda and East Africa, expanding educational access in the region. Professor Muhwezi’s official appointment signifies a new era for MUBS’s academic growth and institutional development.
