Red Cross mobile app to boost access to vital life-saving skills

The Uganda Red Cross, in collaboration with the Belgium Red Cross and other key partners, recently launched the First Aid Blended Learning App in Kampala. The phone based app is intended to improve access to vital life-saving skills among users.
This groundbreaking initiative integrates cutting-edge digital innovation into humanitarian training, poised to transform emergency preparedness across the nation.
The Government of Uganda warmly commended the initiative, recognizing its immense potential to significantly boost workforce readiness and community safety.
Presiding over the launch, Esther Anyakun, Minister of State for Gender, Labour & Social Development, highlighted the app’s far-reaching benefits.”This app is a major boost to workforce readiness and community safety.”
“Equipping Ugandans with First Aid knowledge not only saves lives but also supports safer working environments and national productivity,” Anyakun stated during the ceremony, underscoring the government’s support for digital integration in national development.
Uganda Red Cross Society said the newly launched First Aid Blended Learning App is designed to offer a flexible and comprehensive training experience.
It seamlessly combines engaging online learning modules with crucial practical, in-person training sessions.
This innovative approach makes gaining essential First Aid skills easier, faster, and more accessible for individuals across Uganda, particularly benefiting youth, workers, and communities, including those in hard-to-reach areas where traditional training might be challenging.
Officials from both the Uganda Red Cross and Belgium Red Cross underscored the app’s significance as a critical step towards strengthening emergency preparedness and fostering resilient communities. They reaffirmed a joint commitment to scaling up First Aid training nationwide through accessible digital platforms.
“This launch therefore marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of humanitarian education and underscores the role of global partnerships in building safer, more prepared societies,” a statement from the Uganda Red Cross Society emphasized, highlighting the collaborative effort behind this transformative tool.
