A Florida man accused of pistol-whipping and threatening to kill rapper Rick Ross’ son, William Roberts III, has been released on bond after rival rapper 50 Cent publicly offered to pay his bail.

Don Roberts was granted a $50,000 bond during a court hearing on Wednesday, October 21, and was released hours later after posting a surety bond. However, it remains unclear whether 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, actually paid for his release.

Roberts was arrested on October 16 by Daytona Beach police and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery, according to police records.

The alleged incident occurred on October 11 near Bethune-Cookman University in Florida. According to reports, William, 21, was standing on a sidewalk with a woman when Roberts allegedly approached, pointed a gun at him, threatened to kill him and struck him on the side of the head with the firearm.

William, a former Bethune-Cookman football player, later identified Roberts in a police lineup. He reportedly did not require medical attention.

50 Cent weighed in on the case on social media, mocking Ross and questioning why his son had involved the police. He later offered to help secure Roberts’ release and said he would involve attorney Drew Findling.

The move sparked a fresh exchange between 50 Cent and Tia Kemp, William’s mother, who criticised the rapper for commenting on the assault and bringing his own son, Sire, into the wider feud.

Kemp also made personal remarks about 50 Cent’s former partner, Daphne Joy, and alleged that the rapper’s lawyers had sent her a cease-and-desist letter over her comments.

50 Cent responded by dismissing Kemp’s attacks and making light of their exchange on social media.

The latest dispute adds another chapter to the long-running rivalry between 50 Cent and Rick Ross, which has repeatedly spilled onto social media.
