UETCL appoints Eng. Richard Matsiko as acting Chief Executive Officer following leadership transition

The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) has announced the appointment of Eng. Richard Matsiko as its Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective immediately. This pivotal decision was made by the UETCL Board of Directors during its ordinary sitting on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

The appointment of Eng. Matsiko follows the resignation of Mr. Joshua Karamagi, CFA, from his position as Chief Executive Officer of UETCL. The Board of Directors confirmed that it accepted Mr. Karamagi’s resignation.

In an official statement released today, Mr. Kwame Ejalu, Chairman of the UETCL Board of Directors, extended the Board’s appreciation to the outgoing CEO. “On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Mr. Joshua Karamagi, CFA, for his significant contribution to UETCL,” Mr. Ejalu stated.

Eng. Richard Matsiko steps into the leadership role at a critical time, tasked with ensuring the continuity and effective operation of the national electricity transmission company. His immediate assumption of duties is expected to provide stability during this transitional period.

The Board of Directors has called upon the public and all stakeholders to support the new acting leadership. “Please join the Board in congratulating Eng. Matsiko and wishing him success in his new commission,” Mr. Ejalu added.
