The Uganda Police Force has announced nationwide traffic restrictions as the country prepares to observe the National Cleaning Day on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, Police said the cleaning exercise will take place from 7:00am to 10:00am as part of government efforts to promote a clean environment, improve public health, and prevent diseases linked to poor sanitation.

The Force urged all members of the public, motorists, traders, institutions, and community leaders to participate in the exercise and comply with the directive.

Police said all vehicles, vessels, motorcycles, and bicycles will not be allowed on roads and water bodies during the exercise, except in emergency situations. Traffic movement will be restricted across the country until 10:00am.

“Members of the public are encouraged to remain in their areas, take part in the cleaning exercise and resume normal activities at 10:00 a.m,” the statement said.

However, the restrictions will not apply to emergency services, including medical emergencies, people attending scheduled medical treatment with relevant documentation, medical personnel carrying identification, security vehicles on official duty, and cross-border vehicular traffic along major transport routes.

The Police urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and avoid confrontations during the exercise.

Citizens with concerns have been advised to seek guidance from the nearest police officer or supervisor on duty.
