Uganda Prisons Service trains staff on sex offender rehabilitation approaches
The training, being held at Hotel Le Confidentiel in Arua City, is aimed at equipping participants with practical skills to improve offender rehabilitation, support successful reintegration into communities, and enhance public safety through evidence-based correctional practices.
The Uganda Prisons Service, in partnership with the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), has launched a three-day Sex Offender Treatment Guide (SOTG) training for prison staff and social workers in the North Western Region.
The training, being held at Hotel Le Confidentiel in Arua City, is aimed at equipping participants with practical skills to improve offender rehabilitation, support successful reintegration into communities, and enhance public safety through evidence-based correctional practices.
The programme has brought together Officers in Charge and social workers from various prisons across the region to strengthen their capacity in managing sex offenders using structured treatment approaches.
Uganda Prisons Service said the initiative demonstrates its commitment to continuous professional development and collaboration with partners to improve correctional services and promote safer communities.
The training is expected to enhance the capacity of correctional officers and social workers in addressing the needs of offenders while supporting justice sector reforms.
