Uganda Revenue Authority conducts tax compliance visits in Gulu City

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has launched compliance field visits in Gulu City as part of efforts to promote tax awareness and encourage voluntary compliance among businesses and institutions.
The URA team, led by Ziad Kaketto, Supervisor Stakeholder Relations, began the exercise at Vanguard Primary School, a government-aided institution recognised among the best-performing schools in the city.
Addressing teachers and school management, Kaketto urged them to embrace tax compliance and ensure they declare businesses operated outside the school premises.
He explained that taxes collected by government are used to support national development and public services, adding that Uganda’s tax system is based on the principle that those who earn more contribute more.
“Don’t fear taxes. We all need to pay our fair share because the revenue collected is what government uses to run our country,” Kaketto said.
The compliance visits are aimed at engaging taxpayers, providing guidance, and strengthening awareness on tax obligations.
