Uganda’s Ambassador to Rwanda calls for completion of $3.5m chancery house in Kigali
The Ambassador made the call while appearing before Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday, 16 January 2023.
Uganda’s High Commissioner to Kigali, Ambassador Rtd. Gen. Robert Rusoke has made a call to the government to prioritize the construction of the Chancery building in Kigali.
The Ambassador made the call while appearing before Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee on Monday, 16 January 2023.
According to Rusoke, there is an increase in the rent paid for the official residence of the Ambassador, from USD63, 600 per annum to USD96, 000.
He said this necessitates an increase in funding to the Embassy, for the financial year 2023/2024.
Ambassador Rusoke attributed the increase in rental costs to the change of residence of the High Commissioner in Kigali, to a more secure area.
It should be noted that in 2013, Uganda started construction of a new High Commission chancery building in Kigali that was to cost USD3.5 million.
