UMA’s 2025 international trade fair set to drive sustainable industrialization

The Uganda International Trade Fair is expected to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors, from industry professionals and policymakers to students and the general public, solidifying its status as a premier event for commerce, learning, and national economic advancement.

The Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) on Tuesday launched the 31st edition of the Uganda International Trade Fair, a pivotal event on the East African economic calendar.

The annual expo is scheduled to run from October 2 to 12, 2025, at the UMA Show Grounds in Lugogo, Kampala. This year’s trade fair is built around the ambitious theme: “Sustainable Industrialization for Inclusive Growth, Employment, and Wealth Creation.”

In his opening remarks, Eddie Senkumba, Vice Chairman of UMA and Chairman of the organizing committee, emphasized the event’s critical role in translating this vision into tangible action.

“The 31st Uganda International Trade Fair aims at showcasing UMA’s commitment to driving ‘Sustainable Industrialization for Inclusive Growth, Employment, and Wealth Creation’—a vibrant platform transforming vision into action for a prosperous future,” stated Senkumba.

Echoing this sentiment, Eng. James Kalibbala, an advisory member of UMA, reinforced the foundational importance of the theme for the nation’s development.

“As the trade fair unfolds, we’re reminded that sustainable industrialization is the cornerstone for unlocking Uganda’s potential, creating employment, driving innovation, and building lasting wealth across the nation,” he said.

The 2025 expo is poised to be a truly international affair, with confirmed participation from over 30 countries. It will feature a diverse range of sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, construction, finance, health, energy, and education.

Beyond mere exhibition, the fair is designed as a comprehensive business hub. It will serve as a platform for product launches, intensive business networking, and B2B matchmaking sessions, connecting local enterprises with international partners and investors.

Organizers expect over 1,500 exhibitors to showcase the latest innovations, services, and technologies. Visitors can look forward to more than just displays; the event will feature live business clinics, interactive product demonstrations, and capacity-building workshops.

A key highlight will be the presence of various government agencies and development partners who will be on-site to offer essential citizen services, bringing public administration closer to the people.

The fair will also host a series of special themed days dedicated to specific segments of the economy, including learners, farmers, youth, women, transporters, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), ensuring inclusivity and targeted engagement.
