UWEC Ecstatic After Birth Of Giraffe

Dr. Racheal Mbabazi, the manager of Animal & Horticulture at UWEC says that vets & animal caregivers will be monitoring the baby giraffe 24/7.

Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC) in Entebbe Friday received a newborn giraffe. UWEC said the birth of the tallest land animal is something remarkable and a milestone in the captive breeding of the species.

“We have a newborn giraffe, just a few days after celebrating the annual World Giraffe Day on 21st June,” UWEC said on social media.

“The latest calf born in the wee hours of Friday is a success story of our breeding program. The calf & mother are under close monitoring. UWEC’s  herd now numbers four.”

Dr. Racheal Mbabazi, the manager of Animal & Horticulture at UWEC says that vets & animal caregivers will be monitoring the baby giraffe 24/7.
