Wakiso Man Drops Dead During UPDF Recruitment Exercise

The body was later taken to Mulago Hospital, according to the UPDF First Division spokesperson, Charles Kabona.

Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) recruitment exercise in Wakiso district didn’t go as planned for a yet to be identified man who collapsed and died on the sport at the Wakiso sub-county playground.

The deceased collapsed after running a distance of 2km. He had made it back to the playground only to collapse just near the tent. The soldiers conducting the exercise tried to help the deceased but realized he had breathed his last breath.

The body was later taken to Mulago Hospital, according to the UPDF First Division spokesperson, Charles Kabona. Kabona pointed out that they wanted only 588 people from Wakiso district out of the 3000 applicants who turned up for the exercise.

“When people turn up in such a big number to join the UPDF, it shows that Ugandans love the army and they want to serve their country,” said Kabona.
