Witch doctor arrested for suspected child murder in Kiboga

Police have urged parents to remain vigilant about their children’s safety both inside and outside the home as the investigation continues.

Nakyeyune Madinah, a 42-year-old traditional healer from Kirurumba Cell, Kiboga Town Council, Kiboga District, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering an 11-year-old girl.

Namanda Oliver, a pupil at FAIR Way Nursery School and resident of Buzibwera Cell in Kiboga District, was reported missing after she left home on June 10, 2024, around 10:00 PM to sell boiled maize in Kiboga town but did not return.

The police reported that Namanda’s disappearance was officially logged on June 11, 2024, prompting an immediate search. On June 12, 2024, around 11:30 AM, a young boy collecting grass for animals discovered body parts believed to be Namanda’s and alerted the authorities.

A police statement detailed the gruesome scene: “Internal organs including lungs and heart were removed. The abdomen was severed from the legs and taken away, while the legs were left at the scene.”

A police canine unit tracked the scent to a shrine in Kirurumba Cell, leading to the arrest of Nakyeyune Madinah.
