Zambian power utility increases hours of load shedding

Zesco Limited said in a statement that it has adjusted hours of rotational load-shedding exercise from six hours to 12 hours daily until further notice.

Zambia’s state-run power utility on Wednesday announced an increase in the number of hours for its daily rotational load-shedding exercise.

Zesco Limited said in a statement that it has adjusted hours of rotational load-shedding exercise from six hours to 12 hours daily until further notice.

“The corporation’s ability to meet power demand remains constrained by the drastic reduction in available water in the Kariba reservoir for electricity generation at Kariba North Bank Power Station,” the statement said.

The power utility commenced its rotational load-shedding exercise on Jan. 1.
