Prof Ogwang scoops Africa Outstanding Professionals award
Prof Ogwang was awarded in the medicine profession category.
Renowned pharmacologist and inventor of the COVID-19 herbal drug Covidex, Professor Patrcick Ogwang Engeu, has been honored with the prestigious Africa Outstanding Professionals Award in Tanzania.
The 3rd Africa Outstanding Professionals Award event, held in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, is organized by The Business Executive Media Group and aims to identify and publicly recognize accomplished professionals across various fields of activity.
The awards are open to indigenous Africans and foreign nationals domiciled and professionally active in Africa.
Prof Ogwang was awarded in the Medicine Profession category.
Upon his arrival, Professor Ogwang was warmly received by members of his family, officials of the Uganda Medical Association, and Nabukeera Leah Victoria, the 5th Miss Humanity Africa, a Ugandan fashion model crowned in Enugu, Nigeria, symbolizing the promotion of natural health medicines.
At a reception held at Hotel Horizon in Entebbe, members of the business community, the National Drug Authority (NDA), the Uganda Medical Association (UMA), and family celebrated Prof Ogwang’s achievement, recognizing his groundbreaking work in the field of medicine on the African continent.
Speaking at the event, Prof Ogwang highlighted his journey from humble beginnings in a small village in Eastern Uganda to becoming a beacon of hope for countless individuals across Africa.
His most notable achievement was the development of a groundbreaking herbal remedy for the treatment of malaria.
Prof Ogwang emphasized the importance of collaboration and shared knowledge in addressing healthcare demands and challenges facing Africa.
He has also dedicated himself to empowering local communities, particularly women and youth, by providing opportunities for education and employment in the healthcare field.
The CEO of Jena Herbals, contributions have not only transformed the medical landscape but also inspired a new generation of professionals to follow in his footsteps.
In response to Prof Ogwang’s achievements, Turinaiwe Marvin, a Quality Control Analyst at the NDA, pledged continued support for advancing the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda.
Mr. Mirembe Joel, Secretary-General of the UMA, called on the government to invest in herbal medicine as a source of employment for suppliers and manufacturers and pledged to encourage doctors to prescribe natural medicines, starting with Jena Herbals.
