Kasese NRM MPs Petition Party Secretariat Over Alleged Misuse of Mobilisation Funds
In a letter dated July 20, 2026, addressed to the NRM Secretary General, the MPs raised concerns that funds released under a party circular dated July 19, 2026 had allegedly not reached intended beneficiaries.
Three National Resistance Movement (NRM) Members of Parliament from Kasese District have petitioned the party’s National Secretariat over alleged failure to disburse mobilisation funds meant for grassroots structures ahead of LC1, LC2 and Women Council elections.
In a letter dated July 20, 2026, addressed to the NRM Secretary General, the MPs raised concerns that funds released under a party circular dated July 19, 2026 had allegedly not reached intended beneficiaries.
The legislators — Dr. Monday Julius Rude (Bukonzo East), Sowedi Kitanywa (Busongora North), and Kambale Ferigo (Kasese Municipality) — claimed that some party leaders and beneficiaries reported cases of withheld, reduced or redirected funds by the Kasese District Executive Committee (DEC).
They cited complaints from sub-county NRM chairpersons who allegedly did not receive the Shs100,000 transport facilitation meant for collecting resources, while some villages reportedly received Shs80,000 instead of the allocated Shs100,000 for village barazas.
The MPs asked the NRM Secretariat to investigate the allegations, order full accountability of funds received and disbursed, and ensure that party financial guidelines are followed.
They said the petition was aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and strengthening the party’s grassroots mobilisation efforts during the ongoing election period.
