NUP feeds and pays school fees for killed, jailed, and missing party supporters
David Lewis Rubongoya, the party secretary general, expressed gratitude to people who 'supplement our efforts to ensure that the children of the NUP detained, disappeared, and dead comrades remain in school.'

The National Unity Platform (NUP), the leading opposition political party, has today, Saturday 8th February, 2025, provided food, scholastic materials, and partial schools to families of supporters ‘who were murdered, those who are in prison, as well as those who were disappeared and are still missing.”“We offered them scholastic materials and a portion of school fees as the children go back to school. It was very emotional listening to stories of these comrades, especially those who were killed and those who were taken away by security operatives four or five years ago and have never been found up to now,” party president Bobi Wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi, said in a brief posted on social media.
Adding, “I used this occasion to appreciate the pupils who are performing very well in school and asked the rest to work very hard despite the pain they have had to live.”
“Once again, I encourage everyone who has some means to approach our welfare office at the NUP Headquarters and see how to support these children or their parents. We remain hopeful that one day, there will be justice.”

“Today was particularly very painful seeing the orphaned children and the widowed mothers break down as they narrated the agony they have had to endure as a result of the crimes committed by the regime on their people. Wishing these children excellent studies and a successful term,” he said.
