Poor performing FDC vows to go to court over Kawempe by-election costs
Meanwhile, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has also expressed dissatisfaction with the election outcome and intends to challenge the results in court.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has announced plans to seek legal redress over expenses incurred during the Kawempe North by-election, where its candidate, Sadat Mukiibi, alias Aganaga, performed poorly, securing only 239 of the 27,596 votes cast.
The seat was won by the National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Luyimbazi Nalukoola, who garnered 17,764 votes.
Speaking at a press conference at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, FDC president Patrick Amuriat Oboi dismissed the results, insisting they did not reflect the party’s true support in the constituency.
Amuriat blamed Mukiibi’s poor showing on heavy security deployment, alleging that security operatives interfered in the electoral process from the nomination stage to polling day, creating an intimidating environment for FDC supporters.
The election was also marred by violence, with the Electoral Commission excluding results from at least 15 polling stations. FDC claims one of these was the polling station where Mukiibi himself voted.
Citing these irregularities, Amuriat announced that FDC would take the matter to court, seeking compensation for the costs incurred during the by-election.
“We shall be embarking on the court process, demanding compensation for the costs incurred during the process,” he stated.
