Museveni: Uganda will sustain strong relations with Russia
The President underscored that Uganda values its longstanding relationship with the Russian Federation, noting that partnerships built on mutual respect and shared interests remain key to advancing development and global cooperation.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reaffirmed Uganda’s commitment to strengthening ties with Russia, calling for sustained cooperation and deeper bilateral engagement as he bid farewell to the outgoing Russian Ambassador, H.E Vladlen Semivolos.
During a meeting held at State House Entebbe on Saturday, President Museveni commended Ambassador Semivolos for his role in nurturing relations between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
“I congratulate you on finishing your tour of duty and I commend your efforts in ensuring the continued warmth and cooperation between our countries and people,” President Museveni said, signaling Uganda’s appreciation for Russia’s diplomatic engagement.

His remarks highlighted Kampala’s intention to maintain and expand ties with Moscow beyond the ambassador’s tenure.
Museveni further extended his best wishes to the outgoing envoy, expressing confidence that the foundation laid during his service would continue to benefit both nations.
“I wish you good luck in your future endeavors,” he added.
In response, Ambassador Semivolos expressed gratitude for the support he received during his assignment, describing his time in Uganda as both an honour and a privilege.
“I take pride and special privilege to have served in this country and I honour your support in various fields that have benefitted both Uganda and Russia,” he said.
The farewell meeting marks the end of Ambassador Semivolos’ diplomatic tour in Uganda, closing a chapter that both sides say has contributed to stronger Uganda-Russia relations.
