Board taps experienced insider as new managing director to stabilize electricity distribution company

The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has appointed Eng. Joselynne R Rwakakooko as its Acting Managing Director, marking a significant leadership transition at the state-owned power distributor.
In a press statement issued on May 2, 2026, the Board of Directors announced that Eng. Rwakakooko takes over the role with immediate effect, succeeding Paul Mwesigwa, who has led the company as Managing Director. The Board commended Mwesigwa for his dedicated service and contribution to the company over the years.
The appointment places an experienced energy sector professional at the helm of UEDCL at a time when Uganda’s electricity distribution segment is undergoing reforms aimed at improving efficiency, reliability, and financial sustainability.
