National Water and Sewerage Corporation expands water networks to serve more greater Kampala communities
The ongoing projects will cover areas including Wakiso, Kira, Kasangati, Kanyanya, Kyanja, Nansana, Gayaza, Kakiri, Matugga and Luteete, among others.

The National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is expanding its water distribution network to extend reliable water services to more communities across the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Area.
The ongoing projects will cover areas including Wakiso, Kira, Kasangati, Kanyanya, Kyanja, Nansana, Gayaza, Kakiri, Matugga and Luteete, among others.
NWSC says the expansion follows increased water production capacity at Kampala Water, which has risen to about 400 million litres per day after the completion of the Katosi Water Treatment Plant.
The corporation is now focusing on improving the distribution system to ensure more households and businesses in Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, and Buikwe can access reliable tap water.
A 7.7-kilometre large water pipeline from Namugongo through Bulindo, Nsasa, and Mulawa towards Kira–Kasangati Road is expected to be completed by January 2027, with service readiness targeted for December 2026.
The pipeline is expected to improve water supply in Namugongo, Kira, Buwaate, Bulindo, Mulawa, Kasangati, and surrounding communities.
NWSC says the investment is part of efforts to match growing urban populations with the infrastructure needed to deliver consistent water services.
