Road ambushes, robberies and cattle rustling worrying Nabilatuk residents

The people of Nabilatuk district are worried of the increasing insecurity characterized of road ambushes, robbery and cattle rustling.

In just one month, people in the district have been injured and robbed off money and documents in various attacks.

According to security forces, they are doing everything to stabilize the situation. The gangs are also targeting people they presume to be informers of security agencies.

Police said some survivors are warned not to reveals that attackers identity. These attackers are usually local warriors.

“On 20th March, 2023 a motor vehicle, UAZ 015M, a Noah, carrying passengers, was attacked by Karimajong warriors armed with sticks, bows and arrows at Loteede Village.

On 1st April 2023, a motor vehicle Registration Number UBA 3110 got a flat tyre in Nakoit, occupants were attacked by sticks, bows and arrow and warriors disappeared,” Mt Moroto police records indicate.

The Nabilatuk Deputy Resident Commissioner, Jacinta Ayo Otheino, also highlighted that on Saturday 8th, this month, two teachers from Moroto district who were riding motor cycle KMFZ 353N, were waylaid by armed men with sticks, bows and arrows and robbed them two million shillings and documents.

She added that not even the district was spared as raiders stole animals during day time in the district compound.

“Warriors are using road ambushes to divert security forces as they do cattle raiding. However we also blame Moroto and Amudat districts leaders on this issue,” she added.
