Centenary Bank donates Shs25 Million to support food-insecure communities in Karamoja
The donation was made during a customer and stakeholder engagement visit in Moroto by the bank’s Board of Directors, Managing Director Mr. Godfrey Byekwaso, and the Moroto Branch team led by Ms. Clare Awori.
A financial institution has donated Shs25 million in cash and food items to support vulnerable communities affected by food insecurity in the Karamoja region.
The donation was made during a customer and stakeholder engagement visit in Moroto by the bank’s Board of Directors, Managing Director Mr. Godfrey Byekwaso, and the Moroto Branch team led by Ms. Clare Awori.
The team contributed Shs10 million in cash and food items worth Shs15 million as part of efforts to provide relief to communities facing hardships due to the current food situation in the region.
The visit also focused on strengthening relationships with customers and key stakeholders while reaffirming the bank’s commitment to supporting communities where it operates.
The bank said the initiative reflects its purpose of transforming lives through meaningful community partnerships and standing with communities during times of greatest need.
Karamoja has in recent years faced challenges related to food insecurity, prompting government and development partners to intensify interventions aimed at improving livelihoods and access to essential services.
