Over 40 best students in the 2022 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) from the Bunyoro region will benefit from TotalEnergies E&P Uganda scholarships.
The scholarships by the international oil company are aimed at improving the education sector in the region.
Students set to benefit from this program are from the districts where TotalEnergies’ Tilenga project is operated. These include Buliisa, Nwoya, Masindi andPackwach.
While speaking with journalists at Buliisa district headquarters, Jonah Wamani Byakutaaga, the Public Relations Officer at TotalEnergies – Tilenga Project said the scholarships are restricted to science subjects; in line with the government’s focus on promoting sciences.
Byakutaaga added that TotalEnergies’ target is to produce many scientists who will work in the oil and gas sector and help transform their societies.
Phicol Ampaire, a parent from Kibambura village, Ngwedo Parish, Ngwedo Sub County in Buliisa District whose child has secured a scholarship says he has been having challenges with meeting the scholastic and fees for his child. He said the sponsorship is a great relief.
Mildred Nyamahunge, a parent from Biiso Sub County, has applauded TotalEnergies for its efforts towards improving the education sector in Uganda.
Parents have thanked TotalEnergies for the support and promised to focus on education for better results.
