Dutch envoy commends Uganda’s investor protection efforts during farewell visit to SHIPU
The envoy commended the government's commitment to fighting corruption, noting that transparency, political stability, and efficient public service delivery are essential ingredients for sustaining investor confidence.
The outgoing Ambassador of the Netherlands to Uganda, H.E. Frederieke Quispel, has praised the Ugandan government’s efforts to strengthen investor protection and combat corruption, saying the country’s progress is helping build investor confidence and attract investment.
Quispel made the remarks during a farewell visit to the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), where she celebrated the strong partnership between the unit and the Embassy of the Netherlands in promoting a secure and attractive investment climate.
“I see enormous potential in Uganda and an even brighter future for collaboration between Uganda, the Netherlands, and the European Union. If you ever need me, you know where to find me,” Quispel said.
The envoy commended the government’s commitment to fighting corruption, noting that transparency, political stability, and efficient public service delivery are essential ingredients for sustaining investor confidence.
She also lauded SHIPU Head, Col. Edith Nakalema, for her leadership in protecting investors and creating a conducive environment for business and investment.
Speaking during the meeting, Col. Nakalema thanked the outgoing ambassador for her unwavering support towards investor protection and Uganda’s broader development agenda.
She said Quispel’s collaborative approach to promoting investment opportunities had strengthened SHIPU’s efforts to enhance investor confidence and improve Uganda’s investment climate.
“We celebrate the strong foundation you have laid, which will undoubtedly yield fruits for years to come,” Nakalema said.
As she wished Quispel success in her new appointment as Director of the Africa Department at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nakalema described her as a distinguished diplomat and valued partner whose forward-looking approach to investment has left a lasting impact on SHIPU’s work and Uganda’s investment journey.
The Netherlands has remained one of Uganda’s key development and investment partners, supporting initiatives aimed at improving governance, strengthening institutions, and promoting private sector-led economic growth.
