Authorities in Kikuube District have appealed to development partners and private sector players to invest more in the health sector, particularly maternal healthcare, to improve access to quality medical services.

Ernest Kaliisa, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kikuube, said government cannot address all healthcare challenges single-handedly, calling for increased collaboration with private institutions and development partners to strengthen health service delivery.

He said additional investment in maternal healthcare would help improve access to essential services and support safer childbirth for mothers and their babies.

Kaliisa also urged expectant mothers to deliver at recognised health facilities and seek timely referrals to higher-level hospitals whenever complications arise.

He made the remarks while receiving medical equipment donated by Stanbic Bank to Buhimba Health Centre III in Buhimba Town Council, Kikuube District.

Alex Amanyire, the officer in charge of Buhimba Health Centre III, said the facility serves patients from different areas, making additional support essential to meeting the community’s healthcare needs.

He said the donated equipment would help strengthen the facility’s capacity to serve patients, although the extent of its impact will depend on the equipment provided and the facility’s operational needs.

Henry Kakande, the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer of Kikuube District, commended Stanbic Bank for supporting the health facility, describing private sector contributions as important to improving public healthcare services.

Grace Semakula, Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank SBG Securities, said the contribution was intended to help communities access quality healthcare.

The donation highlights the role of partnerships between government and private institutions in supporting healthcare delivery, particularly in communities where health facilities face growing demands for services.
