Muhoozi names Munanura new intelligence chief in leadership change

Munanura was previously serving as Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security under Major General Richard Otto.

Brigadier Oscar Munanura has been promoted to the rank of Acting Major General and appointed Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security (CDIS) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF).

The appointment was announced in a press statement issued on Tuesday by Colonel Chris Magezi, the Acting Director of Defence Public Information at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/UPDF.

Munanura was previously serving as Deputy Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security under Major General Richard Otto, who is leaving the position after being seconded to the Joint Staff Human Resource Management for redeployment.

The statement said the promotion and appointment were made by the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The UPDF congratulated Munanura on his promotion and appointment while commending Otto for his work during his tenure as head of defence intelligence and security.

“We wish the General Officers good luck in their new duties,” Magezi said in the statement.
