American singer Chris Brown has avoided immediate jail time after receiving an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, over a 2023 attack on music producer Abraham Diaw at a London nightclub
The 37-year-old singer was sentenced to Southwark Crown Court on Monday, October 26, after pleading guilty to affray over the incident at Tape Nightclub in Mayfair.
Prosecutors told the court that Brown struck Diaw on the head with a tequila bottle, leaving him with head and knee injuries. More serious charges were dropped following his guilty plea.
Brown was arrested in Manchester in May 2025 and later released on £5 million bail, allowing him to continue his tour.
During sentencing, the judge told Brown that fame and success did not entitle him to special treatment.
