Engola, Olaxes murders shouldn’t worry Ugandans – cabinet
In terms of security, the minister has called upon the public, not to panic after the 2 incidents of murder by shooting happened in Kyanja.
Cabinet has called on Ugandans not to panic following the murders of labour minister Col (rtd) Charles Engola and social blogger Isma Olaxes also known as Jaja Ichuli.
The message of encouragement has been delivered by the Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Dr Chris Baryomunsi while addressing journalists at Uganda Media Centre on Tuesday.
In terms of security, the minister has called upon the public, not to panic after the 2 incidents of murder by shooting happened in Kyanja.
He added that these are isolated incidents which are occasioned by criminals; however, police and other security agencies are carrying out investigations.
“Once again, we want to convey our condolences, to the families that lost their dear ones through these senseless killings. We condemn these barbaric acts of cowardice.
“Why should you kill someone even if you have disagreements, even if I strongly oppose your views, kill another? Killing is not a solution to anything,” the minister said.
Ichuli’s shooting is reminiscent of the previous killings of former Buyende district police commander Muhammad Kirumira and former police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi among others.
This tragic incident has lifted panic among Ugandans on the state of safety as much of the violence using firearms is witnessed.
