Etania exits NRG radio: Is this a publicity stunt or reality?
Known in the industry of entertainment as “Etania Life of the Party,” her speculation arises in the wake of a previous April Fool's joke, where Sheila Gashumba was humorously announced as the new CEO of NRG Radio Uganda.
The recent news of Etania having her contract terminated at NRG Radio has left many wondering if it’s a genuine business decision or a calculated publicity stunt.
Known in the industry of entertainment as “Etania Life of the Party,” her speculation arises in the wake of a previous April Fool’s joke, where Sheila Gashumba was humorously announced as the new CEO of NRG Radio Uganda.
The Termination
NRG Radio announced in a statement saying that Etania life of the party will no longer be an employee of the station starting 3rd July. Etania, a popular media personality, has been a significant figure at NRG Radio, and her sudden exit has raised eyebrows.
This website has learnt that Etania has been through several conversations with her bosses at the station, over disciplinary matters from which the station has decided to part ways with her.
““As discussed, dignity and mutual respect are core uncompromisable values at NRG. After our conversation, we think that the best way forward for all parties involved is to terminate your services with NRG,” the letter partly reads.
Possibility of a stunt.
Earlier this year, NRG Radio played an April Fool’s prank by announcing Sheila Gashumba as their new CEO, something expected to be the same with Etania.

Despite the day having been known to many as Fool’s day, the post generated significant buzz and engagement, leading many to believe it was a strategic move to increase the station’s visibility.
On this similar note, fans and industry insiders are divided. Some believe Etania departing NRG could be another marketing ploy to draw attention and stir up conversation, while others think it might be a legitimate move in response to internal challenges.
For example, Via X, some followers of NRG official Radio account have commented on a video, where some of the presenters at the same station were discussing why Etania departed, something unusual in most workplaces once a colleague is fired.
“I don’t understand this, where fellow employees are not informed of their fellow’s termination. And then they go on to discuss a termination like they own the radio station. What game are you guys playing?” wondered Raymond Mwijutsya a real estate enthusiast.
PHIL| Christ Rep a social media marketing personnel commented saying, “The fact that you her colleagues can talk about this with ease, is more proof that this whole firing of @forever_etania is a PR stunt and you have achieved more traffic because of her…its a matter of time, we’ll know what is on ground”
“Bano Bali mu film,” said Lukyaibra @Lukyamuzi1994 adding that, “because this doesn’t make sense to me . Nga tulabye bubadi! What show are you pushing guys? Although I want Etania back because I got to listen to this radio because of her,”

Media analyst, John Mukasa, comments, “In the age of social media, any publicity can be good publicity. NRG Radio might be leveraging these high-profile moves to keep their brand in the spotlight.”

Whether Etania’s contract termination is a real business decision or a cleverly orchestrated stunt, this remains to be seen. What is clear, however, is that NRG Radio knows how to keep the public guessing and engaged.
