Frank Tumwebaze Hands Over Tractor To National Leadership Institute Kyankwanzi

Maj. Gen. Kasura-Kyomukama explained that each entity that receives a tractor from the agriculture ministry enters into a Memorandum of Understanding with the ministry with clear rights and obligations to ensure that the tractors are used appropriately.

The National Leadership Institute (NALI) received an HP 75 tractor & its implements from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) on Monday.

The agriculture minister Frank Tumwebaze, together with the ministry’s Permanent Secretary Maj. Gen. David Kasura-Kyomukama, delivered the tractor.

The minister said the motor will enable the Institute to open & utilise part of the 12 sq miles of land for large-scale maize production in addition to beef ranching.

The minister further tasked the leadership of NALI to start making animal feeds on a large scale given the raw material (maize) they will be producing.

“Large scale farmers need to produce affordable animal feeds that the smallholder farmers can buy,” the minister advised.

Brig. Charles Kisembo, a Director of NALI, received the tractor on behalf of the Institute. He said: “With this partnership, we are going to go from taking our trainees to see what others have done in Agriculture to being an example because we already have 12 Square Miles of land.”
