Government pushes contractor to fast-track Kira–Kasangati–Matugga road works

During an inspection of the ongoing works, authorities said delayed road projects continue to affect communities through lost time, business opportunities, and economic activities.

The government has directed the contractor working on the Kira–Kasangati–Matugga Road project to accelerate construction after resolving key land acquisition challenges that had affected progress.

During an inspection of the ongoing works, authorities said delayed road projects continue to affect communities through lost time, business opportunities, and economic activities.

The contractor has been tasked to complete the Kyaliwajjala–Kira–Kasangati section up to the Junction by December 2026, while ensuring regular dust control and maintenance across all sections under construction.

Government also committed to clearing payments for the remaining project affected persons to remove outstanding obstacles to the project.

The section extending to Matugga is expected to be completed by July 2027.
