Inflation for year ending May at 3.8 percent – UBOS

According to UBOS, the annual inflation rate was primarily driven by fluctuations in annual services inflation and annual other goods inflation.

Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) has announced that the annual headline inflation for the year ending May 2025 stands at 3.8%, indicating a relatively stable economic environment.

The announcement comes as economists and policymakers closely monitor price fluctuations amidst global economic uncertainties.

In a statement released earlier today, UBOS revealed that the annual core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food crops and energy, was recorded at 4.2% for the same period.

This figure provides a clearer picture of underlying inflationary pressures within the economy.

According to UBOS, the annual inflation rate was primarily driven by fluctuations in annual services inflation and annual other goods inflation.

The UBOS data will be crucial for the Bank of Uganda in formulating monetary policy decisions aimed at maintaining price stability and supporting economic growth.
