Juliana Kagwa leaves Uganda Breweries after 17 years of service
Kagwa who started as a graduate trainee has been the UBL Corporate Relations Director by the time she left.
Juliana Kagwa has announced her departure from Uganda Breweries Limited(UBL) where she has been working for the past 17 years.
Kagwa who started as a graduate trainee has been the UBL Corporate Relations Director by the time she left.
In a social media post, Kagwa noted that, “They say, every new beginning comes from another beginning’s end… My 17 year old journey with Uganda Breweries Limited, a company that took a chance on me as a freshly graduated trainee, nurtured and trained me to Marketing Director, then Corporate Relations Director has come to an end,” she announced.
She added, “I am grateful for the opportunity to learn, to serve and to grow at UBL and East African Breweries Ltd.”
According to Kagwa, there are so many people whose tutelage and mentorship she is indebted to along the “amazing and adrenaline-filled journey”
She noted that on the backdrop of the experience she has garnered in this illustrious industry, the networks she is privileged to have established, she is now moving into the Pan African space and will be sharing more details soon.
“For now allow me to recognise some of the Giants on whose shoulders I stand. Thank You Andrew Kilonzo for your guidance and mentorship. In the same vein, I will forever be beholden to Mark Ocitti, Alvin Mbugua, Nyimpini Mabunda, Baker Magunda, Eric Kiniti.”
She has a wealth of experience having held various leadership roles in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) companies, ranging from marketing, strategy, commercial and innovation.
She has previously been the UBL Marketing & Innovations Director, responsible for ensuring the profitable and sustainable growth of the focus brands in the UBL portfolio. To her name are brand innovations like the famous Uganda Waragi and Bond 7 flavours and new formats like the 330ml Bell lager.
Kagwa started her career at Diageo as a Graduate management trainee and has worked in various marketing roles in Uganda and Kenya, including a brief stint as Country Manager for Heineken.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology and a Master of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh Business School.
