Stanbic Bank Uganda has announced that Daniel Ogong, its long-serving and highly influential Head of Brand & Marketing, will be stepping down from his role, effective October 1, 2025.

Ogong, widely regarded as one of Uganda’s most impactful marketing leaders, leaves behind a legacy of eight years of distinguished service during which he profoundly shaped Stanbic’s brand narrative, positioning it as arguably one of the most trusted and respected financial institutions in the country.

Under Ogong’s visionary leadership, Stanbic Bank has witnessed a remarkable evolution of its brand, characterized by numerous creative and innovative marketing campaigns.

His tenure saw bold investments in local sports and music, strategically aligning with the bank’s core purpose of driving Uganda’s growth and fostering deeper connections with the community. These initiatives not only enhanced brand visibility but also reinforced Stanbic’s commitment to national development.

His strategic foresight and execution prowess have earned Stanbic Bank multiple industry accolades, solidifying its reputation as a thought leader and innovator in the financial services sector.

Beyond institutional recognition, Ogong himself has received significant personal honours, including being named Marketing Pioneer of the Year 2024 by Evolve Group Africa, a testament to his forward-thinking approach and ability to translate brand strategy into tangible business results. In 2023, his peers at the African Marketing Confederation (AMC) recognised him as Professional of the Year.

Mumba Kalifungwa, Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Uganda, lauded Ogong’s immense contributions. “Daniel has been instrumental in positioning Stanbic Bank as a brand espousing trust, innovation, and client-focus. His work has inspired our teams internally and also set new benchmarks for marketing excellence in the wider industry. We are incredibly grateful for his unwavering dedication and transformative leadership over the past eight years. We thank him for his service and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” said Kalifungwa.

Reflecting on his impactful journey, Daniel Ogong shared, “Leading the Stanbic brand and marketing strategy has been one of the greatest privileges of my career. Over the past eight years, I have had the honour of working with incredibly talented colleagues in telling the Stanbic story in a way that resonates with Ugandans and demonstrates our role in driving the country’s progress. I am immensely proud of what we achieved together and confident the brand will continue to thrive in the years ahead.”

Colleagues, spanning peers and junior staff, describe Ogong as a true mentor and team-builder, consistently empowering others to excel. Beyond the successful campaigns and numerous awards, his enduring legacy includes nurturing talent within Stanbic’s marketing ranks and embedding a vibrant culture of storytelling that powerfully connects the bank’s purpose to the real lives of Ugandans.

While Ogong departs his role at Stanbic, the bank emphasized that his profound influence and expertise are expected to continue shaping Uganda’s broader brand and marketing industry for many years to come.
