Muhoozi demands that UK govt removes sanctions placed on Kayihura
Kayihura was appointed IGP in 2005 but was fired on March 14, 2018, and charged in the General Court Martial with failure to protect war materials, failure to supervise police officers and abetting kidnap.
On Monday evening, First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba sent out a tweet asking the United Kingdom to remove sanctions that they have placed on former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Gen Kale Kayihura.
“As one of the most fearsome soldiers in His Majesty’s empire, I DEMAND that the British Government remove the sanctions that they have placed on our hero General Kayihura!” Muhoozi tweeted.
The UK government through its Global Human Rights regime imposed sanctions on Kayihura for allegedly superintending over human rights violations including torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment and punishment while he was still at the helm of the Uganda Police Force.

“General Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police in Uganda from 2005 to 2018. While Kayihura was in charge, he oversaw multiple units responsible for human rights violations including torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment and punishment,” reads part of the December 9, 2022 statement issued by UK’s Foreign Secretary James Cleverly.
In our empire…the empire of King Charles III. Visiting London, the capital must be like visiting Kampala my local capital. I shouldn't need a visa for that. Otherwise we will think of something else.

Last year, while he was still Commander of Land Forces of the UPDF, Muhoozi asked President Yoweri Museveni to forgive Kayihura because he was one of those special cadres in the early 1990s who inspired him to serve in the military.
Kayihura was appointed IGP in 2005 but was fired on March 14, 2018, and charged in the General Court Martial with failure to protect war materials, failure to supervise police officers and abetting kidnap.
