Musasizi urges Capital Market Authority to mobilise long-term capital for Uganda’s economic transformation
The ministers commended CMA for its role in strengthening Uganda’s capital markets, enhancing investor confidence and creating opportunities for long-term financing.

KAMPALA — Finance Minister Hon. Henry Musasizi has called on the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) to intensify efforts in mobilising long-term capital to support Uganda’s economic transformation agenda.
Musasizi made the remarks during a meeting with the CMA Board and Management, led by Board Chairperson Saul Sseremba, alongside Ministers Amos Lugoloobi and Cissy Mulondo. The meeting reviewed the Authority’s mandate, performance, priorities and challenges.
The ministers commended CMA for its role in strengthening Uganda’s capital markets, enhancing investor confidence and creating opportunities for long-term financing.
Musasizi urged the Authority to embrace innovation, expand research, develop new financial products and increase public participation in capital markets.
He said CMA’s work should align with the government’s Ten-Fold Growth Strategy and the Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV) by attracting more companies to list on the capital market and expanding access to alternative sources of financing.
The Finance Minister noted that increased capital market participation would help fund key sectors including infrastructure, industrialisation, housing and enterprise development.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to providing a supportive policy and regulatory environment, strengthening institutions and working with CMA to position Uganda’s capital markets as a major driver of sustainable economic growth.
