Nakalema’s investors protection agency resolves dispute between Mark Africa and Kuku Chick through mediation

The State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU) has successfully mediated a business dispute between Mark Africa (U) Ltd and Kuku Chick Ltd, paving the way for the two companies to continue their commercial partnership.

According to SHIPU, the meeting, facilitated by the unit, enabled both parties to openly discuss outstanding issues arising from their business relationship and reach a mutually acceptable resolution.

The mediation resulted in both companies agreeing to put past disagreements behind them and reaffirming their commitment to maintaining their business relationship.

Officials said the outcome demonstrates the importance of dialogue in resolving commercial disputes without resorting to lengthy legal battles that can disrupt business operations.

SHIPU commended both companies for embracing constructive engagement, saying peaceful dispute resolution not only preserves valuable business partnerships but also enhances investor confidence in Uganda’s business environment.

The unit noted that amicable settlement of commercial disagreements is essential for promoting stability, protecting investments and encouraging business growth.

The mediation was led by the Head of SHIPU, Col. Edith Nakalema, who has championed the use of dialogue and professionalism in resolving investment-related disputes.

SHIPU reaffirmed its commitment to creating a conducive investment climate by supporting businesses to resolve conflicts efficiently while safeguarding investor interests.

The unit said it will continue working with investors, companies and government institutions to strengthen partnerships, improve investor confidence and foster sustainable economic development through fair and amicable dispute resolution.
