Oil and gas field excursion enters Third Day with focus on infrastructure, production and community benefits
The day’s activities are focused on providing participants with a deeper understanding of Uganda’s oil and gas sector, from supporting infrastructure and production operations to environmental management and community development initiatives.
Hoima, Uganda — The third day of the Albertine Graben oil and gas field excursion has commenced with a morning briefing at Kabalega Resort in Hoima, where participants were taken through the day’s programme, expected outcomes and safety guidelines ahead of field activities.
The day’s activities are focused on providing participants with a deeper understanding of Uganda’s oil and gas sector, from supporting infrastructure and production operations to environmental management and community development initiatives.
The excursion includes a visit to Kabalega International Airport, where participants will explore the role of strategic infrastructure in supporting the growth of the petroleum industry. They will also visit the Escarpment Viewpoint, offering a panoramic view of key oil and gas facilities within the Albertine Graben.
Participants will proceed to Well Pad 2 to observe drilling operations and learn more about oil extraction processes before touring the Central Processing Facility (CPF), where crude oil undergoes processing before transportation.
At Well Pad 1, they will gain insights into production activities, including metering systems and crude oil handling procedures.
The programme will also highlight the social impact of oil and gas developments through visits to Buhuuka Market, a community demonstration garden and a gravity water scheme, showcasing initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods in host communities.
The day’s programme will conclude with a tour of the Luwero Industries Waste Management Facility, where participants will learn about waste management practices and environmental sustainability measures within Uganda’s petroleum sector.
