Police in Jinja City has recovered three magazines containing 90 rounds of live ammunition abandoned at the home of Muhammed Kakaire, a resident of Wanyange Lake Cell in Jinja City Northern Division.

The bullets were recovered Sunday morning after a tip-off from Kakaire’s house helper who saw an army green arm chest jacket beside their house. The house helper immediately alerted Wanyange police post leading to the deployment of police canines to trace the person who left the ammunition in vain.

Speaking to journalists, the house helper whose name has been withheld said that Kakaire is not always around and they do not have any security personnel on their premises. So I had to alert the police after seeing such suspicious equipment outside the house,” he said.

James Mubi, the Kiira region police spokesperson, said detectives are liaising with sister security organizations to establish the source of the live ammunition.

Mubi says that efforts of catching the suspects are underway. “We are looking forward to having the source of live ammunition,” he said.
