Police warn Ugandans over alleged Hut 8 online investment scheme
Police spokespersons Kituuma Rusoke said preliminary information shows that some people were allegedly attracted through social media platforms with promises of high returns after depositing money into the platform.

The Uganda Police Force has issued a warning to the public over an online investment platform operating under the name “Hut 8,” following complaints from individuals who claim to have faced challenges accessing their accounts and withdrawing funds.
Police spokespersons Kituuma Rusoke said preliminary information shows that some people were allegedly attracted through social media platforms with promises of high returns after depositing money into the platform.
However, police noted that no formal complaints have been filed yet and investigations are at an early stage.
The Force also clarified that the legitimate Hut 8 Corp has distanced itself from the alleged investment activities in Uganda, stating that it has no authorised representatives or investment operations soliciting funds in the country.
Police have urged members of the public to be cautious when investing online and to verify investment opportunities before committing their money.
